Second Wind Fund and Cherry Creek Urban Mattress

One of the most rewarding parts of our commitment to give 2% of each purchase to local non-profits, is seeing the variety of ways that 2% can impact a community. One of the non-profits Cherry Creek Urban Mattress has partnered up with is Second Wind Fund. Their mission is to decrease the incidence of suicide in children and youth by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment.

The decision to invest in suicide prevention is a personal one for a few of the Urban Mattress employees, who were former teammates with Spencer Gardner, a D’evelyn High School All-State Basketball player who took his life in July of 2010. SWF started in response to four teen suicides in a nine month period at D’evelyn High School. While other suicide prevention organizations offer broad suicide prevention education and awareness, SWF offers actual treatment services to at-risk children and youth. To find out more about their work and their upcoming Walk/Run in September, check out their website here.
